How to use the web site
The web site has many ways to navigate it.
1. Click on one of the themes, such as Monmouth Rebellion, and follow the journey of the rebellion by clicking on one of the buttons to the left of the screen. Click on images to be taken to the Media Display Screen (MDS), which will present larger zoom able versions of the images available by clicking on under Other versions. If there are multiple images such as pages from a book click on next or previous to view them at the bottom of the MDS. Pan & Zoom

2. Find items by date by clicking on the interactive time line at the top of the screen. This will open a new window showing items that are associated with that date period.
3. Click Search, at the top of the screen, to explore the web site by theme, person or place, by clicking on the buttons at the top of the screen.
4. Find items by clicking on the maps button at the top of the screen. These are zoom able and require the downloading of a small program (follow on screen instructions). Once downloaded you will be presented with a map of the earth. To zoom in click on the magnifying tool and drag the mouse down whilst holding the left mouse button, drag up to zoom out. To select an area to zoom in on click on the zoom select tool and click and drag over the area you are interested in. To reset maps click on the reset button, which is the globe to the left . There are several maps to view and more are being added all the time to change between them click on the globe to the right . This will open a new window offering choices from Map A or B, choose one from the drop down menu in A and click finish. When zooming you will get a box saying there are no records chosen, to choose records click on the theme picker this will open a new window with a drop down menu, choose one of the themes and click add. The theme will appear with an x next to it, (to delete click on the x) and then click close. You will see hot spots of several types, which are interactive. Click on the i symbol then click on a hot spot to view the item, try zooming in on the map to see more detail. Click on the map picker globe and select a second map from B. To layer maps click on the layer symbol . Use the tool slider to view one map over the top of the other. The xIx tool allows mirror view. Try exploring the other tools.
